I had a strange dream the other night. It caused me to come to terms with mortality, so I have decided to come up with a motto for myself. It will be a way for me to live life to the fullest every day.
My Motto:
Live everyday as if you were Jack Bauer.

Mystery Solved
The Walkman issue that was brought up by a post on another blog has been solved.
The name Walkman is actually a brand name owned by Sony, so it would be used more like an adjective.
I have three Walkman radios.

My Monkey Sphere
I was reading this blog http://sentenceofdave.blogspot.com/ the other day and came across a new term, monkey sphere. Although, it is interesting I don't agree with it, but it did get me thinking too.
Monkey sphere: Aka: Dunbar's number: (A short definition) It is the supposed cognitive limit to the number of individuals with whom any one person can maintain stable social relationships: Most people put the at 150.
I was thinking of all the people in my monkey sphere and came up with the number 33. I guess that just means I have limited cognitive abilities.

A Story About Poo
Warning: This post contains graphic descriptions of poo.
We took Calvin off the diaper. The other day Calvin and I went on a walk and when we were about half a mile out he decided to poo and pee in his shorts. I didn't notice until I saw a softball size poop on the ground. I then had to carry him back home with poo dripping down his legs all over my arms. Let me tell you poo in the heat does not smell good.
Bonus: While carrying him he said, "Potty dada potty" I don't know if he was telling me he needed to go or that he already went either way it stunk.

Kung Fu Treadmill
In a previous post I commented that my personality was made up of three TV characters personality: House, Michael Scott, and John Dorian. To further prove my point, I want to share three experiences I had recently...
1. I spent most of the day in the office with my head phones on ignoring my colleagues and when that becomes too much, I go hide in the library. (this happens frequently)
2. One of my students asked me what the plural of fish was, and I told him it was fishes. Luckily one of my better students was there to save the day with the right answer. (this was during an observation)
3. I almost fell off the treadmill the other day, because I was day-dreaming about using the momentum of the machine to do some high-powered kung-fu moves.
The Flood Gates
I have gotten used to working in a unpredictable environment. The school I work for is not very organized, so I will find plans have changed for the day at the last minutes.
Today I was teaching when I heard the marching band playing in the foyer of the school. I go to look over the balcony into the foyer to see the marching band playing away. It was so loud I couldn't hear a teacher standing next to me.
I turned to go back to my class when all the doors in the hallway opened and a sea of kids came screaming out. I had to claw my way up current to reach my students. I told them to stay in the classroom until the sea of children passed, so they could safely go and watch the marching band.

Extreme Journalism
I don't think it is appropriate when a TV journalist takes aggressive and extreme approaches to the news. I think it is wrong, because they are pushing their idea and beliefs on their viewers who will take them as fact. An example of this is the recent comments made by Olbermann...
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/05/14/olbermann-to-bush-this-wa_n_101831.html
He goes on for 12 minutes bashing President Bush and the current administration. He is almost yelling and acting half-crazed as he makes grandeous statements providing almost no facts to his statements. Don't get me wrong I don't agree with most of President Bush's decisions. I didn't vote for him in either election and knew he would not live up to his promises and he would do greater harm than good.
I just have a problem with a journalist going on TV and acting like a spoiled brat and lashing out at an easy target to either get ratings or to get pay back for being picked on as a kid.
Also check out Bill O'Reilly...http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/05/12/bill-oreilly-on-inside-ed_n_101267.html

No I'm Spartacus!
I was walking down the hall to my secret bathroom when I happened upon a group of my students. There were about 10 boys looking over the railing, so I looked over and noticed that there was a milk box on the floor. Obviously one of them through it off the second story and tried to get it into the trash can.
I asked them who through it and in a moment of heroism they each replied, "I threw it!"-"No I threw it!" I am guessing non of them saw Spartacus otherwise they would have known their fate.

3 Parts Fool
The first is John Dorian from scrubs. I am not funny like him, but I do spend most of my day dreaming about stupid things, like if I became a vigilante to capture the burglars who burgled my house.
The second is Gregory House from House. I am not super-smart or witty like he is, but I do dislike physical contact and the inherent annoyance of people. I try not to be like this, but it is a struggle everyday. I also have an addiction - I pop gum like house pops pills.
The third person is Michael Scott from the Office. This was truly disappointing. I think I am most like him: a true idiot who does and says idiotic things all day, everyday. Also an inflated ego that routinely gets put in check -usually in an embarrassing way. He is oblivious to his moronic ways until, on occasionm when it becomes overwhelmingly obvious what he's all about. We both never learn from our mistakes and continue to bulldoze through life.Monday, May 5, 2008
The Fight For Food II
It appears I have lost this battle and must retreat and fight a more passive way to fight. I spent the weekend hangin with Calvin while Celine went to party in the city with her friends. It was fine. I love spending time with Calvin especially when we don't have a grown up around telling us what we can and can not do. This weekend was rough though, because me and Calvin were sick. I went out Saturday morning and went shopping and decided I deserved a treat, so I got Popeye's chicken. I brought it home and put it into the frig to save for later. The next day Celine came home. I was giving Calvin a bath while unknowingly Celine was stealing my chicken. I put Calvin to bed and then went to get my well deserved treat only to discover it had become a casualty. When I asked what happened to it I was accused of being selfish. I have realized that this battle is lost. There is nothing I can do to keep my food from being eaten. I will have to hide what food I can and hope it doesn't get sniffed out and devoured.
